In addition, develop easy to follow working strategies, along with creating effective ways to bring new and active volunteers onboard. The members of NYLESA are working towards these goals by implementing the following work plan.

Administrative (Chair, Co-chair, Treasurer)

The new Administrative volunteers will oversee the proceedings for final legalization of NYLESA as a non-profit organization/association. They will develop the financial practicalities and the sponsorship and advertisement plans needed for the successful functioning of the association. Well aimed advocacy with the UN organizations will create greater awareness of the needs and interests of the spouses/partners.

Career Support Group

Priority will be given to the mapping of the professional skills and needs of NYLESA’s membership. Developing an information pool to be used with the UN Focal Points within the UN HRs looking for skilled and emerging talent. Creating the means to have information readily available to the regular members of current UN employment opportunities. Networking and employment awareness for members looking for work outside the UN as well as acquiring the professional information from self-employed regular members who wish to promote themselves on NYLESA’s website will be more of this group’s focus.

Communication Group

Emphasis in this group will be to keep all NYLESA interest groups aware of its presence and activities. This requires reviewing and updating all current NYLESA communication tools, and creating new ones if needed; reconstructing the information architecture on NYLESA’s website; developing efficient procedures to monitor, publish and update the website; harmonizing different mailing lists; and ensuring that all UN organizations have NYLESA information readily available in their induction programs.

Welcome Group

This group will develop an updated Welcome Kit for spouses arriving to New York, continually work towards identifying new and emerging difficulties seen by spouses in their efforts to settle in to New York. With a key role to play in NYLESA’s membership drive, this group will support and help create further networking and socializing within the membership continuing the current Coffee Gatherings and supporting any new activities furthering the same.
